Slash Going Solo

Slash is coming out with a solo album and I don't think anyone is more excited than I am. Come April 6th, we'll be able to hear some of Slash's great solo riffs with vocals contributed by Fergie, Kid Rock, and Ozzy Osborne among others. I'm excited that Slash is doing his own thing for right now. Killer.

Mitre Design

Since I've been living in Winston-Salem, I've noticed some very nice design elements around town. Two in particular - Brew Nerds Coffee and Kernal Kustards - have really cool signage and collateral pieces (menus, cups, napkins, etc.) - all designed by Mitre in Greensboro, NC. Take a look at some of their work.

Terrific PR Idea

Garnier Fructis's Rock Your Style Salon will offer complimentary shampoos, hair styling, free samples, and more during the Bonnaroo Music Festival this year. Now, not only was I excited about not having to go 4 whole days with unwashed hair, I actually thought this was a pretty cool PR idea. I mean... talk about finding people when they need to wash their hair the most. (Hello, sweaty hipsters.) I think it's great that Garnier is offering this service while also promoting the their brand.

Thanks Laura for the find.
I'm already counting down the days.

She Dreams in Color, She Dreams in Red

I'm really embracing the idea of a new bold attitude.
And what better color to express this than RED?

Sweetener Packets to Live By.

I want this Swiss Miss Journal...

Maybe because I always write on a slant like this.

Hey I know that guy...

Far left, it's Nick Ackerman from The Virgins. I met him when they played at the Drunken Unicorn in Atlanta. Such a cutie. When are they going on tour again?

Twitter to Launch Ad Platform

Twitter - the next ad platform? I think we could have all guessed that. I feel like advertising agencies already jumped on this bandwagon over a year ago. Old news, but check out the article anyway.

Ohh... and I also like this.

Pug Love for the day.

My friend Laura sent me this picture at work today. I AM IN LOVE with this PUG. We would like to go ahead and order two to go. And please send with the mini chair & ottoman. Thank you.

Girl Crush - Alexa Chung

I love Alexa Chung, her urban street style, her love for fashion, and her whole comedic attitude. So sad that her show got canceled. At least you can find her on the blogosphere, like here on Carpicho.

Animal Collective at the Guggenheim

Animal Collective is putting on a performance art piece at the Guggenheim Museum. With the help of their video artist, Danny Perez, they will be unveiling Transverse Temporal Gyrus on March 4th. This exhibition will last about 3 hours and include psychedelic lights, crazy costumes, props, electronic sounds and obviously, Animal Collective's music. Basically, it will be like a live show inside the Guggenheim. Awesome. So fricken' awesome.

MGMT - Sneak Peak of their new album, Congratulations.

MGMT has released the artwork for the cover of their new album, Congratulations (due out on April 12) as well as the track list. The artwork is by cartoonist Anthony Ausgang, which depicts a surfing cat set to be swallowed up by a giant cat-shaped wave (it kind of reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega circa 1991). The cover, I must say, is very MGMTish - keeping with their theme of bright psychedelic colors, and well, cats. Read more about their new album at NME.com.

Congratulations Track List:

01 - It’s Working

02 - Song for Dan Treacy

03 - Someone’s Missing

04 - Flash Delirium

05 - I Found a Whistle

06 - Siberian Breaks

07 - Brian Eno

08 - Lady Dada’s Nightmare

09 - Congratulations

Just add water and watch him grow.

For Valentine's Day, my roommate Angelle bought me an inflatable boyfriend.
We documented his growth.

Just Add Water!

Looking pretty built already.

Smaller than my iPhone.

Anxiously awaiting my valentine to grow.

(5 minutes later) Still waiting...

When he wasn't growing, we decided to look at the directions.
May take up to 10 days? F that.

Feeling Kranky

I've been dying to go to Krankies, a hip coffee shop/bar in Winston-Salem. Think I might check it out tonight. Anyone want to go?

Red Velvet Cake Yogurt?

Don't judge. It's delicious!

Arcade Fire and the NFL

I'll admit it. I thought I was hearing things Sunday night as a Super Bowl Commercial for the NFL featured Arcade Fire's "Wake Up". The most televised event of the year isn't where you'd usually find a song from a band like this. And apparently, Arcade Fire had been in dispute with FOX and the NFL for using their song "No Cars Go" without permission back in 2008. But come to find out (via Pitchfork), Arcade Fire actually teamed up with the NFL and charity Partners in Health this year to help raise money for Haiti Relief.

Job well done fellas. Oh, and I actually really like this commercial. Probably because of the song. (Props to Grey NY)

Pug Love for the day.

Pugs are on the brain. As usual.

Hipster Puppies

This blog is kind of hysterical.
And I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of dressing Hazel like a hipster.
My mom got her an American Apparel doggie tee one Christmas, maybe I'll dress her in that and submit a picture.

Pretty in Pink

It's a cold, dreary, grey day today. I need a hint of color in my life.
PINK it is.
